Meet Sean McClung and Read Why He Supports Jody London

Vote for Jody London on Nov. 8 in the Oakland school board District 1 race

I first met Jody London halfway through her first term on the Oakland school board. Jody immediately impressed me by her familiarity with Far West’s students and faculty. (I first met her there on the North Oakland campus in 2010, before the small school became part of Oakland Tech). Spending time on campus to personally observe how a school community functions makes Jody a powerful ally for school leaders.

At the time I was serving as the Assistant Principal in a leadership residency with my mentor Beverly Jarrett. I remember Jody being involved with our small school by visiting to learn more about the school’s needs and to offer support, as well participating in important community events like graduation.

After I left District 1 to become the principal of another small school in District 2 in the Oakland Unified School District, Jody remained an important ally and supporter. She demonstrated her commitment to the schools and children of the entire town. A few years ago, my wife and I moved (from District 2) to North Oakland, where we’re grateful to have a director as experienced, committed and connected as Jody, representing us and our neighbors on the board.
