Democracy in Action at GO’s Candidate Interview Day

This past Sunday, August 5, GO hosted a critical event that comes around once every election cycle—school board candidate interviews. Nearly 100 Oaklanders, including parents, teachers, and community leaders, gathered in the GO offices, where they had a chance to meet and hear from candidates from Districts 2, 4, and 6. After getting to know these candidates, those in attendance were given the chance to weigh in on who GO should endorse.

Our unique, inclusive, and community-powered endorsement process is something we are very proud of. It was inspiring to see it in action once again, and to see so many committed to selecting a committed, engaged, and active school board that will lead us through some of our district’s most challenging times.

Our work on elections is not only dedicated to finding the best leaders, but also to informing our community about the important role they play. This takes time and money. We are writing to invite you to get involved with this year’s critical school board election. Help us continue this people-powered election effort by becoming a GO Advocate.

You can also join the conversation! Use #VoteOakEdu18 on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to see what others are saying about the election, and make sure you check out the pictures from our event, too.

Here’s to an impactful election season.
