We are excited to endorse Aimee Eng to continue representing District 2 on the school board. GO’s endorsement process involved nearly 100 community members participating in a candidate interview day, where we were able to hear from the candidates on a number of issues affecting our students and then provide feedback that was used for the endorsements. You can see Aimee’s written questionnaire in English (y Español) and her live video interview here.
In her four years of service on the school board, Board President Eng has focused on developing strong working relationships with her fellow board members. She has spent time in the community, listening to their needs and concerns, and working to deepen her understanding of the different perspectives represented. She has proven herself able to make challenging and sometimes unpopular decisions with the long-term interests of schools and students in mind. We believe she will help lead to bring Oakland Unified out of its current fiscal crisis and into long-term sustainability.
Board President Eng has regularly voted in support of GO’s positions on our Budgeting For Impact and 1Oakland campaigns. Our students and families need her continued leadership in these critical areas.
We congratulate Aimee on her re-election to the board this November, as she is running unopposed for this seat.
